Mekubo Mogusu

Mekubo Mogusu ( Mekubo Job Mogusu ; born December 25, 1986 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

He studied in Japan at the Yamanashi Gakuin University and distinguished himself above all in the relay races called Ekiden . He was part of the Kenyan marathon relay that set a world record of 1:57:06 hours at the Ekiden von Chiba on November 23, 2005 (the other runners were Josphat Muchiri Ndambiri , Martin Irungu Mathathi , Daniel Muchunu Mwangi , Onesmus Nyerre and John Kariuki ).

He is also successful as a single starter. In 2005, 2007 and 2008 he won the Sapporo Half Marathon . In 2007 he won the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon in 59:48 minutes, the fastest time on Japanese soil to date. Shortly after he repeated his victory in Marugame in 2009, he was involved in a traffic accident in his native Kenya. Mogusu, who was behind the wheel of the car, was only slightly injured but was shocked because his trainer, Sho Kimura, who was in the passenger seat, bumped his head and fell into a coma from which he only woke up after a week-long hospital stay. After resuming training, he set a personal best in the 10,000 meter run on May 31, 2009 in Niigata with 27: 26.56 minutes .

Mogusu is 1.65 m tall and weighs 49 kg. He starts for the AiDEM team.
