Girma Assefa (born June 20, 1986 in Shewa ) is an Ethiopian marathon runner .
In the junior race of the World Cross Country Championship he finished eighth in Dublin in 2002 and fifth in Lausanne / Avenches in 2003 and won the silver medal with the team on both occasions.
In 2004 he joined the Subaru corporate team . He was runner-up four times in a row at the Sapporo Half Marathon from 2004 to 2007.
He then returned to Ethiopia and switched to the full distance. In 2009 he finished sixth in the Berlin Marathon and third in the Florence Marathon , in 2010 fourth in the Göteborgsvarvet and third in the Istanbul Marathon , and in 2011 he set a course record in the Mumbai Marathon .
