Gothenburgsvarvet
Göteborgsvarvet (official spelling GöteborgsVarvet ) is a half marathon that takes place annually in mid-May in the Swedish city of Gothenburg . It was first held in 1980.

The number of registered participants rose from 1,800 at the beginning to 64,325 in 2015 (including the Bambini run, relay race and other events; around 46,500 participants in the half marathon). This makes the event the largest half marathon in the world.
The race over the distance of 21.0975 kilometers starts and ends at the Slottskogsvallen arena and leads through the Slottskogen, over the Älvsborgsbron to the island of Hisingen , along the Göta älvs , over the Göta älvbro and via Kungsportsavenyn and the Götaplatsen through downtown Gothenburg .
