Älvsborgsbron is a suspension bridge that crosses the Göta älv at the entrance to the port of Gothenburg . It is 933 m long and has a span of 418 m and a headroom of 45 m. The six lanes hang from two 107 m high pylons . The bridge was designed by Sven Olof Asplund and inaugurated in 1966 by the then Minister of Transport, Olof Palme .
The Älvsborgsbron connects Gothenburg with the industrial areas on the island of Hisingen . It is passed by around 65,000 vehicles every day.
