Radio WMW (Westmünsterland-Welle; own spelling: RADIO WMW ) is a private local radio in the Borken district that has existed since 1992 .

history

Radio WMW went on air on April 4, 1992 with a license from the State Media Authority in North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1990 to 2013 Reiner Mannheims was editor-in-chief. Lennart Thies has been his successor since July 1, 2014.

Since May 2016, Uplink Network from Düsseldorf has been responsible for operating the VHF frequencies , replacing the Bundespost's successor Media Broadcast as part of a market liberalization .

Due to a dispute between Uplink Network and Radio NRW , the stations of Radio NRW and thus Radio WMW were threatened with an FM blackout. Thanks to joint discussions, however, a solution was found.

Broadcasting

Radio WMW broadcasts around nine hours of local programming from Monday to Friday, four hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday. This includes a morning show . The remainder program and the messages on the hour are from the coat broadcaster Radio NRW produced. On weekdays, the local radio broadcasts three to five-minute local news every half hour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. These are presented alternately by Martina Sandalls, Mariele Lascka, Harald Block and Sven Nickel. In addition, local weather and traffic information is sent every half or full hour.

Well-known presenters at Radio WMW are the early teams Silvia Ochlast & Daniel Krawinkel. Also Benjamin Rotzler and Raimund Stroick.

The morning show is now moderated by Silvia Ochlast and Daniel Krawinkel. Sina Kuipers and Benjamin Rotzler will moderate in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., alternately.

Radio WMW also owns cable frequencies. These are 87.95 MHz for Ahaus , Gescher , Gronau (Westphalia) , Heek and Schöppingen and 105.80 MHz for Bocholt , Borken , Heiden , Rhede , Stadtlohn and Vreden .

The program is currently not broadcast via satellite or digital radio (DAB).

The local broadcaster reached 42.2% of the listeners in the broadcasting area every day at EMA 2011 / II, making it the market leader in the region.

Marketing tasks in the field of radio advertising have been outsourced to Münsterländische Medien Service GmbH & Co. KG (MMS) from Münster.
