Radio Rur is the local station for the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Pleußmühle

General

Radio Rur has been on the air since September 19, 1992. The station's editor-in-chief is Dietrich Meier. The studios and editorial rooms are located in the center of Düren ( August-Klotz-Straße ) in the Pleußmühle .

The music from Radio Rur is compiled by today's supporting program provider Radio NRW . From the start of broadcasting in September 1992 to summer 1993, Radio Rur took over its supporting program from RTL Baden-Württemberg. In North Rhine-Westphalia at that time, 107.8 Antenne AC (Aachen district) and Welle West (Heinsberg district) also used this alternative to Radio NRW. RTL was also involved in the station's operating company at the time. Due to the intervention of the majority shareholder (WAZ) at the time, the cooperation with RTL Baden-Württemberg has been terminated. Since the summer of 1993, Radio Rur has taken over the supporting program for Radio NRW. The reason for this decision was a lack of revenue sharing in the supra-regional advertising in the RTL supporting program. A short time after the switch to an oldie format for the Luxembourg RTL program, the RTL framework was completely discontinued.

The broadcasting license is held by the community of organizers for local radio in the Düren district, based in Düren . The operating company of the transmitter is now run as a GmbH based in Cologne . The shareholders are newspaper publishers from the Rhineland . The radio service company (HSG) in Cologne, also a subsidiary of M. DuMont Schauberg, is the marketer for Radio Rur.

Radio Rur broadcasts six hours of local programs a day. This includes the morning show with moderators Mick Weiser and Marc Plätzer in the morning between 6 and 10 a.m., as well as the afternoon show between 4 and 6 p.m. In addition, there is hourly local news from the Düren district and the region on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Frequencies

While the frequency 107.5 MHz is limited to the northern district area, the frequency 92.7 MHz also reaches the northeast, so that reception is possible as far as the Bergisches Land . Radio Rur can be heard worldwide via the web radio on the station homepage. Free apps are available for smartphones in the respective stores. Radio Rur can also be received via the radioplayer.de app.

Since May 2016, UPLINK Network GmbH from Düsseldorf has been responsible for operating the VHF frequencies , which is replacing the Bundespost's successor, Media Broadcast , as part of a market liberalization .

Citizen radio

The community radio is broadcast from Monday to Friday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. (on public holidays from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.). The Erste Dürener Rundfunkverein eV (EDR eV) broadcasts from Monday to Friday, the Eifel studios stopped broadcasting on July 1, 2008 and have not existed since then.
