Radio Westfalica is a local radio station for the East Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke . It went on the air in Minden in 1991 and received its license from the State Agency for Media in North Rhine-Westphalia . Ingo Tölle is the editor-in-chief.

program

The local radio broadcasts fifteen hours of local programs from its studio at Johanniskirchhof in Minden together with Radio Herford . The Morning Show "The Four out of here" is Monday sent after test runs in December 2014 from 5 January 2015 to Friday 5 to 10 pm live from Minden. Oliver Rose, Nadine Hofmeier, Boris Tegtmeier and Pola will moderate. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., presenter Christina Wolff broadcasts five hours of regional programming from the Radio Herford studio. The afternoon show “From three to free” runs from 3pm to 8pm. Citizen radio runs daily from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Programs by school groups sometimes run on Saturdays between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The OWL -wide youth program deinfm is broadcast from the Gütersloh studio on Kahlertstrasse Mondays to Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight and Sundays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The rest of the program is taken over by the program supplier Radio NRW , which also broadcasts the world news on the hour. In return, Radio Westfalica broadcasts a Radio NRW advertising block per hour. Another focus is the local news, which is broadcast every half hour from 5.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

After the relaunch of the NRW local radio stations on January 11, 2010, Radio Westfalica and Radio Herford are the only local radio stations besides Radio Lippe that do not use the Sebastian Walch station voice but have kept the old voice from Bodo Venten .

Ingo Tölle is the station's editor-in-chief. After holding this position from 2009 to 2015, he moved to Oberhausen as program director for the framework program provider Radio NRW . After only one year he returned to Radio Westfalica as editor-in-chief. In the meantime, Oliver Rose was acting as head of the station.

This results in the following historical order of the editors-in-chief: Christoph Knorr-Schwab (1991), Ralf Huber (1991 to 1997), Markus Augustiniak (1997 to 2008), Ingo Tölle (2009 to 2015, from 2016).

Range

The local broadcaster reached around 130,000 listeners at the EMA 2019 II district of Minden-Lübbecke, a range of 49% of the listeners in the district. Radio Westfalica is in first place ahead of 1 Live and WDR 2 .

Companies

According to the State Media Act of North Rhine-Westphalia, responsibility for programming for Radio Westfalica lies with the community of organizers for local radio in the Minden-Lübbecke district. V. , which is composed of representatives of socially relevant groups in the district.

Radio Minden-Lübbecke GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for the economic situation. The newspaper publishers Mindener Tageblatt , Neue Westfälische and the municipalities in the district are involved, with the exception of the city of Porta Westfalica , which is not involved in the BG.

Most of the technical and business management tasks are outsourced to the full-service provider Audio Media Service (ams) based in Bielefeld .

Relaunch

Since January 5, 2015, Radio Westfalica has been broadcasting various broadcasts together with Radio Herford .

Coat range

The rest of the program and the world news at the top of the hour are taken over by the broadcaster Radio NRW outside of local broadcast times. Radio NRW supplies 45 NRW local stations with a 24-hour program that can be accessed at any time. However, Radio Westfalica is stipulated by the State Agency for Media North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM) a certain local broadcasting time. In return, Radio Westfalica broadcasts an hourly advertising block from the NRW program. The music format is the Adult Contemporary (AC) prescribed by Radio NRW , which is aimed at 19 to 49-year-old listeners. The music selection is also largely given by Radio NRW. This also happens during local airtime. Radio NRW determines which title is shown at what time. The station identifier "Radio Westfalica" as well as similar IDs outside of the local broadcasting times are automatically triggered by a remote control signal from Oberhausen in the mostly unoccupied broadcasting studio in Minden, as is common with all other local radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The programs are delivered via satellite. If reception is impaired in bad weather, the system automatically switches to an additional ISDN line to Oberhausen.

In the evening program "radio deinfm", headlines across the OWL are broadcast every half hour.

Two pillar model

The State Broadcasting Act in North Rhine-Westphalia prescribes the operation of local radio stations in the so-called two-pillar model. This model separates the program and economic responsibility with the aim of ensuring that the program does not lose its level or content due to journalistic or economic interests.

reception

Radio Westfalica can be heard in the entire Minden-Lübbecke district on VHF and in the cable network.

Awards

Radio Westfalica won the LfM Radio Prize 2004. The reason for this was the station's positive development in previous years. Above all, the increase in reach from 25% to 38% and the outstanding image values in the word field were decisive for this award.
