Radio Lippe is a local radio station for the Lippe district based in Detmold . He received his license from the LfM and started broadcasting in 1991 . The editor-in-chief is Markus Knoblich.

history

In the first years of the broadcast, the editorial team and the broadcast studio were located on 220 square meters on Ernst-Hilker-Strasse in Detmold.

The program, which went on the air in the initial phase from April 1991, was still strongly characterized by special- interest programs for different target groups. Among other things, there was a folk music and a sports program on Sunday, a youth program on Friday afternoons and a culturally influenced program on the holidays. The day's program focused on local topics and competitions for the listeners. The station had little luck with this special-interest program: in 1993 Radio Lippe was one of the most unsuccessful local stations in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the years that followed, several new editors-in-chief brought about numerous program reforms.

Since the 2000s the program, like all other local radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia, has been formatted more and more . In the early years, the difference between the self-produced program and the cover program Radio NRW was still clearly recognizable: through moderation, music color and own positioning. Later this independence faded into the background. Although the number of listeners has improved significantly, it still does not reach the, in some cases, significantly higher level of other comparable local broadcasters in the region.

For several years now, the station has been based in the former editorial building of the Lippische Landes-Zeitung on Lageschen Strasse in Detmold.

With the introduction of the new broadcast structure on August 31, 2015, the old station voice of the NRW local radio, Bodo Venten, was reintroduced.

Daily broadcast duration

The license granted by the LfM in 1991 originally provided that Radio Lippe had to broadcast eight hours of its own program every day. Due to difficult economic conditions, the minimum broadcasting hours were reduced a little later to five hours a day and it was even permitted to create two of these five hours "in cooperation" with Radio NRW . Radio Lippe now broadcasts up to 15 hours from Monday to Friday; the reduction to three or four hours is retained only on weekends.
