program

The station's program focuses on local news between 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m., local reporting, reporting of traffic obstructions or speed cameras set up by the police and local weather reporting. Furthermore, consumer tips and event information are in the foreground.

The Bielefeld local radio broadcasts up to 15 hours of local programs from its studio on Süsterplatz on weekdays. The local broadcasts on weekdays are the morning show “Radio Bielefeld am Morgen”, which is broadcast between 6 and 10 a.m., alternately presented by Annika Pott & Jonas Becker or Sebastian Wiese & Timo Teichler, “Radio Bielefeld at work” with Roxane Brockschnieder and Tim Donsbach is broadcast between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the program “Radio Bielefeld in the afternoon” with Bettina Wittemeier, Dirk Sluyter and Holger Höhner brings listeners to the end of the day between 2 and 7 p.m. On Mondays and Thursdays, Radio Bielefeld also broadcasts two local hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Mondays with “Liebold live” - the talk with personalities from the city, moderated by Andreas Liebold, and on Thursdays with “Die HitStory” - an oldie and music request -Show with Stephan Schueler. The youth program “radio deinfm”, which is produced in the studios of Radio Gütersloh , can then be heard until midnight - as on all OWL local radios .

On Saturdays, the local program “Radio Bielefeld on the weekend” runs on Radio Bielefeld between 8 am and 1 pm. On Sundays there is “Radio Bielefeld on the weekend” between 9 am and 2 pm and the local sports magazine “SportTalk” with Tim Linnenbrügger between 4 and 6 pm. Radio Bielefeld, as the official station for Bielefeld, broadcasts all Arminia Bielefeld games with stadium reporter Ulrich Zwetz . The young program “radio deinfm” will also be broadcast on weekends in the evenings (Saturdays - also on weekdays - from 9 p.m. to midnight, Sundays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), with the focus on the current listener charts on Sundays.

As the only private broadcaster in NRW to date, Radio Bielefeld has had a supra-local newsroom since 2016 and does not take over the news from radio NRW's supporting program on the hour on the hour.

Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., Radio Bielefeld broadcasts the public radio broadcast as required by the state media law of North Rhine-Westphalia . These are recorded broadcasts that are edited and produced by radio enthusiasts or radio groups or radio workshops from the region.

The station's claims are “Always on the pulse of the city”, “All day every day” and “Always easy to hear”.

Coat range

The rest of the program and the world messages to the full hour are outside the local broadcast times from the coat broadcaster Radio NRW taken. Radio NRW supplies 45 NRW local stations with a 24-hour program that can be accessed at any time. However, Radio Bielefeld is prescribed a certain local broadcasting time by the State Agency for Media North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM). In return, Radio Bielefeld broadcasts an hourly advertising block from the NRW program. The music format is the Adult Contemporary (AC) prescribed by Radio NRW , which is aimed at 19 to 49-year-old listeners. The music selection is also largely given by Radio NRW. This also happens during local airtime. Radio NRW determines which title is shown at what time. The station identifier “Radio Bielefeld” and similar IDs outside the local broadcasting times are automatically triggered by a remote control signal from Oberhausen in the mostly unoccupied broadcasting studio in Bielefeld at that time, as is common with all other local radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The programs are delivered via satellite. If reception is impaired in bad weather, the system automatically switches to an additional ISDN line to Oberhausen.

Since 2016, Radio Bielefeld has been broadcasting its own news from the studio on the half-hour as well as on the hour on the hour during local broadcasts (Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) Süsterplatz with topics from Bielefeld , NRW , Germany and the world. Radio Bielefeld is thus the first NRW local radio that completely dispenses with news from Radio NRW from Oberhausen during local broadcasting time . In the evening program "radio deinfm", headlines across the OWL are broadcast every half hour.

Two pillar model

The State Broadcasting Act in North Rhine-Westphalia prescribes the operation of local radio stations in the so-called two-pillar model . This model separates the program and economic responsibility with the aim of ensuring that the program does not lose its level or content due to journalistic or economic interests.
