Radio Gütersloh Betriebsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG is responsible for the economic situation. The newspaper publishers E. Holterdorf, Neue Westfälische and Haller Kreisblatt as well as the municipalities in the Gütersloh district are involved.

Most of the technical and business management tasks are outsourced to the full-service provider Audio Media Service (ams) based in Bielefeld.

Coat range

The rest of the program and the world news at the top of the hour are taken over by the broadcaster Radio NRW outside of local broadcast times. Radio NRW supplies 45 NRW local stations with a 24-hour program that can be accessed at any time. Radio Gütersloh is, however, prescribed a certain local broadcast time by the State Agency for Media North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM). In return, Radio Gütersloh broadcasts an hourly advertising block from the NRW program. The music format is the Adult Contemporary (AC) prescribed by Radio NRW, which is aimed at 19 to 49-year-old listeners. The music selection is also largely given by Radio NRW. This also happens during local airtime. Radio NRW determines which title is shown at what time. The station identifier "Radio Gütersloh" and similar IDs outside the local broadcasting times are automatically triggered by a remote control signal from Oberhausen in the mostly unoccupied broadcasting studio in Gütersloh at the time, as is common with all other local radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The programs are delivered via satellite. If reception is impaired in bad weather, the system automatically switches to an additional ISDN line to Oberhausen.

history

A contract between the organizing association (around 20 representatives of socially relevant groups) and the operating association (newspaper publishers E. Holterdorf , Neue Westfälische and Haller Kreisblatt and the municipalities in the Gütersloh district) paved the way for a local radio station in Gütersloh on June 25, 1990. “Radio Gütersloh” got its license from the LfM and went on air on September 14, 1991 at 10:04 am. The studio was on Feldstrasse in Gütersloh, across from the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium . In the first four years there were three changes in chief editor: Brigitte Barner was followed by Cornelia Schulze and Norbert Osterwinter. Carsten Schoßmeier has been the station's editor-in-chief since October 1, 1995.

It was curious that until 2006 the station could only be received with an annoying noise in the urban area of Gütersloh, even in the editorial office itself , while the sound quality outside of Gütersloh was flawless. It was the city's houses to blame, which caused shadows. That is why the station had been trying to get an additional frequency for the Gütersloh urban area since 1999, a project that failed for a long time due to objections from the WDR. It was not until September 1, 2006 that Radio Gütersloh was able to ensure interference-free reception even in the city center with the new 95.9 MHz frequency and its own transmitter system with a 10 meter high antenna on the roof of Gütersloh town hall.

reception

Radio Gütersloh can be heard in the entire Gütersloh district . The station can be received in the urban area of Gütersloh on the VHF frequency 95.9 MHz (50 watts), in the southern district on the 1000 watt frequency 107.5 MHz ( transmitter Oelde-Stromberg ), in the northern district on 106.8 MHz (400 watts, transmitter Borgholzhausen ) as well as generally via the cable frequency 101.80 MHz and via the Internet via live stream , which can be found on the website of the transmitter.
