The Blättersberg near Rhodt unter Rietburg in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Südliche Weinstrasse is 613.2  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Palatinate Forest in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The mountain, which can be easily recognized from the Rhine plain, has a north ( 613.2 m ) and a south ( 606  m ) summit  ; on the latter stands the Ludwigsturm observation tower .

The Blättersberg rises in the Haardt , the eastern mountain range of the Palatinate Forest, in the Palatinate Forest Nature Park . Its summit is 3 kilometers (km) west-northwest of Rhodt unter Rietburg , to which the mountain belongs largely, 4.5 km west-southwest of Edenkoben and 1.6 km (as the crow flies ) northwest of the village Weyher in the Palatinate . To the north the landscape drops into the Edenkoben valley with the Triefenbach and to the south into that of the Modenbach . The Leißelgraben rises on the eastern flank of the mountain . An eastern spur of the north tip is called Spitzbergel ( 324.7  m ).

Natural allocation

The Blättersberg belongs to the Palatinate Forest natural area, which is classified as a 3rd order Greater Region in the systematics of the handbook of the natural spatial structure of Germany published by Emil Meynen and Josef Schmithüsen and its subsequent publications . If one considers the internal structure of the natural area , the Blättersberg belongs to the Middle Palatinate Forest and here to the Haardt mountain range, which separates the Palatinate Forest from the Upper Rhine Plain .

In summary, the natural spatial allocation of the Blättersberg follows the following system:

  1. Greater region 1st order: Layer level land on both sides of the Upper Rhine Rift

Mountain height

The height of the Blättersberg is given in the context of its north summit on topographic maps with 613.2  m but also with 617.5  m . About 60 m south-southeast of the mountain summit is a 611.8  m high point and on the southern summit ( 606  m ) near the Ludwigsturm there is one at 604.9  m . The main peak is marked with a stone pyramid.

Buildings

Ludwigsturm

The Ludwigsturm observation tower, built in 1883, stands on the southern tip of the Blättersberg . From the observation deck of the 15 m high tower, the view directly to the east of the Rhine valley through the forest, although hidden, but can be seen in the south-southeast to Badener Höhe and the Hornisgrinde in the Black Forest in the southwest to near trifels castle , west to Frankenweide with Weißenberg ( Luitpold Tower ) and Hortenkopf (transmitting antenna), in the northwest to the nearby Kesselberg and to the northeast to the Kalmit .

Others

Visible from afar are the Villa Ludwigshöhe Castle (Edenkoben) and the Rietburg (Rhodt) on the east-northeast flank of the mountain . At the southern foot of the mountain, on the upper reaches of the Modenbach, is the historic property of the Buschmühle (Weyher). On the south-south-east flank of the mountain, west-southwest above Weyher, is the Schweizerhaus ( 413  m ), a refuge in the Palatinate Forest managed by the Weyher local group of the Palatinate Forest Association . To the north of the mountain, near the confluence of the small Haselbach in the Triefenbach, is the Edenkobener Hut at the Hüttenbrunnen .

Traffic and walking

South past the Blättersberg runs between Ramberg in the West, among others, through the valley of fashion Bach to Weyher in the eastern state road  506. From this road branches west of the mountain in the river valley two streets from: first at about 287  m height, the county road  6, the first west of the mountain up in the Modenbachtal past the Modenbacherhof and Forsthaus Heldenstein and then north past the mountain in the Edenkobener valley down along the local Triefenbach to Edenkoben in the east, and a little below it near the Neuer Brunnen at a height of 255.9  m the southeast K 58 running to Burrweiler . The K 64, which comes from Edenkoben and ends below the Spitzbergel ( 324.7  m ) at Villa Ludwigshöhe , leads to the eastern flank of the mountain .

To get to the summit of the Blättersberg, the visitor has several options. For example, you could first take the chairlift from Villa Ludwigshöhe to Rietburg ( 530.8  m ) and from there follow the hiking trail marked by the PWV with a “blue-yellow line” for about 1.5 km. Walking time about 30 minutes.

Another hiking trail begins at K 6 at the “Hüttenbrunnen” hikers ' car park ( 361.6  m ); its length is about 4 km with a total difference in altitude of 244.2 m. It initially runs with the PWV marking "blue-white line" to Kohlplatz ( 465.9  m ), a saddle between Kesselberg and Blättersberg. From here, with the same marking, follow a narrow forest path in a southerly, later south-westerly direction. It meanders along the west and south-west slopes of the Blättersberg and reaches its summit after about 2.5 km. If you want to continue this tour as a circular hike, you first continue to hike to the Rietburg and then return to the starting point “Hüttenbrunnen” after a total of 9 km with the “red dot” mark.

In addition, there are a number of other shorter or longer hiking options available to visitors in the area of ​​the Blättersberg. For example, a section of the Pfälzer Weinsteig hiking trail runs on its 5th stage at the foot of the mountain; In addition, the Pfälzer Keschdeweg themed hiking trail touches this area.
