Finds of stone coffins and foundations of a Roman villa from the 2nd century south of the parish church bear witness to the first settlement. Finds from the fifth century, for example goods from the Eifel, show that Weyher survived the end of the Roman Empire as a trading place and has been continuously settled since then.
The name of the place mentioned for the first time in the Lorsch Codex as Wilere in 777 is derived from the Old High German villare ( hamlet ). The dialect assimilated Wîlre to Wîr. In the New High German diphthong it became Weyher. The place belonged to the Speyer Monastery until the end of the 18th century ; there the place was subordinate to the Oberamt Kirrweiler ..
After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794), the place belonged to the French and then part of the Napoleonic Empire from 1798 to 1804 . During this time Weyer was - as it was spelled at the time - in the canton of Edenkoben in the Donnersberg department and owned his own Mairie . In 1815 the community had a total of 630 inhabitants. Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the region first came to the Austrian Empire in 1815 and to the Kingdom of Bavaria on the basis of the Treaty of Munich (1816) . Weyher belonged in the newly created Rhine district from 1818 on to the Landau commissioner ; from this the district office of Landau emerged.
From 1939 the place was part of the district of the Palatinate . After the Second World War , Weyher became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . During the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform changed the place on 7 June 1969 in the newly created district Landau-Bad Bergzabern, in 1978 in South County Wine Trail is renamed . In 1972 Weyher in the Palatinate became part of the newly formed community of Edenkoben .
