The name Walsheim is mentioned for the first time in 769 according to a document from the Lorsch Monastery with the nearby village of Roschbach . In the Carolingian period (800–911) the place was called Walahesheim. Walsheim once belonged to the bailiff of the old Scharfeneck rule .
