Neighboring communities are - clockwise - Großfischlingen , Freimersheim , Hochstadt and Essingen . The Kaltenbach forms the southern border district except for a short stretch.

history

The emergence of small fish probably took place in the fifth and sixth centuries at the time of the Franconian conquest . The name is interpreted as the settlement of a Franconian called "Fiskilo". The place name "Fischlingen" goes back to him, which was first mentioned in 772 in a document from the Lorsch Abbey .

Over time, two town centers developed: The distinction between Großfischlingen and Kleinfischlingen is only documented from 1282 onwards. In a checkered history, a number of changes to the acquis can be recorded in the further course. A document from 1303 shows that the village originally belonged to the imperial estate . For almost 400 years, Kleinfischlingen was in the possession of the Lords of Weingarten , who have now received the village as a fief from the Elector Palatinate . In 1686 Kleinfischlingen was pledged to the Count of Degenfeld-Schomburg in Altdorf . The coats of arms of the two noble families are still on the old schoolhouse today. In 1743, the Electoral Palatinate redeemed the pledge and took over the local rule , which lasted until 1795, and subordinated it to the Oberamt Germersheim as well as the city and Fauthei Germersheim . Until the French Revolution , a large part of the village boundary was in the hands of clergymen. As the owner of possessions, among others, which are Abbey Lorsch , the Abbey White Castle , the Bishopric of Speyer , the eusserthal abbey , the monastery Lambrecht , the monastery Hördt and the cathedral chapter Speyer mentioned.

From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Kleinfischlingen was incorporated into the canton of Edenkoben and was subordinate to the Mairie Großfischlingen . In 1815 the place had a total of 314 inhabitants. In the same year it was added to Austria . Just one year later, the place, like the entire Palatinate, changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 the community belonged to the Landau Landau commissioner ; from this the district office of Landau emerged.

From 1939 the place was part of the Landau district in the Palatinate . After the Second World War , Kleinfischlingen became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . During the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform changed the place on 7 June 1969 in the newly created district Landau-Bad Bergzabern, in 1978 in South County Wine Trail is renamed . In 1972 Kleinfischlingen was assigned to the also newly formed community of Edenkoben .
