Cheapheim-Ingenheim is a municipality in the Südliche Weinstrasse district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Landau-Land association, which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Landau in the Palatinate . Cheapheim-Ingenheim is designated as a basic center according to state planning .

history
Cheapheim is one of the oldest settlements in the southern Palatinate, first mentioned in a document in 693 under the name "Bullinchheim". Cheap home was directly owned by the empire , in 1350 Billigheim then came into possession of the Counts of Leiningen . As early as the 14th century, Billigheim was referred to as a city that was incorporated into the Palatinate in 1361. 1450 is him by King Friedrich III. a year and weekly market awarded with the freedom of market. In 1468, under Elector Friedrich the Victorious , Billigheim built a wall and three defensive gates, of which the “Upper Gate” has been preserved as a landmark today. In 1550 the city was additionally fortified with ramparts and ditches.
A large Jewish community existed in Ingenheim until 1940 . The highest number of Jewish residents was reached in 1848 with 578 people, who made up about a third of the local population. At that time Ingenheim housed the largest Jewish community in the Palatinate. From 1869 to 1884 Ingenheim even had a Jewish mayor in Bernhard Roos (1796–1888). Today there is a car dealership on the site of the former synagogue . There is a well-preserved Jewish cemetery in Ingenheim .
Today's local community was formed on June 7, 1969 from the previously independent communities Appenhofen (237 inhabitants at the time), Billigheim (1,579 people), Ingenheim (1,436 people) and Mühlhofen (429 people).

Dietmar Pfister (SPD) became the local mayor of Billigheim-Ingenheim on July 17, 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for a further five years with a share of the vote of 68.85%. His predecessor Torsten Blank (SPD) had held the office for ten years.

Culture and sights
Buildings
The Protestant parish church with its 40 m high tower is the landmark of Billigheim.
The oldest part of the church is the basement of the steeple. Processing marks and the shape of the cuboids are reminiscent of the 11th century. This coincides with the local tradition, according to which Emperor Konrad II had the first church in Billigheim built. Around 1220 this church was demolished and replaced by a new building. In the early 14th century, around 1325/30, the high Gothic choir of the church was built, around the same time the tower was raised. The nave is late Gothic and was built in the first decades of the 16th century. The west portal bears the year 1522. In the 18th century the tower received its baroque dome.
Regular events
- Since 1991 the wine festival has been held in Mühlhofen on the last weekend of July .
- The Ingenheim Wine and Klingbach Festival takes place in Ingenheim every year on the second weekend in August .
- In Billigheim every year on the third weekend in September the Billigheimer Purzelmarkt , the oldest folk festival in the Palatinate, takes place.
Economy and Infrastructure
Cheapheim-Ingenheim is heavily influenced by viticulture and, with 826 hectares of vineyards (as of 2010), it is the fourth largest wine-growing community in the Palatinate and the fifth largest wine-growing community in Rhineland-Palatinate.
From 1892 to 1967, the villages within today's local community Billigheim-Ingenheim were connected to the railway network via the Klingbachtalbahn . Since then, the closest train station has been Rohrbach .
