The German Wine Route Cycle Route , sometimes referred to as the German Wine Route Cycle Route , is a long -distance cycle route from Schweigen-Rechtenbach to Bockenheim on the Wine Route , the course of which is based on the German Wine Route . It runs mainly on rural roads, only in urban areas also on roads with motor vehicle traffic. The length of the cycle path is 95 km; the route is about 1020 meters in altitudeupwards and approx. 1055 meters downwards. In addition to the main route, there are also several “panorama routes” - detours in the direction of the Palatinate Forest, which are a little more strenuous to drive due to their inclines. The panorama routes have a total length of 35 km.

Route

The German Wine Route cycle path begins in Schweigen-Rechtenbach ; the German Wine Gate is a possible starting point here. The towns of Oberotterbach , Bad Bergzabern , Pleisweiler-Oberhofen , Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach , Klingenmünster , Eschbach (Pfalz) , Leinsweiler , Ranschbach , Birkweiler , Siebeldingen , Frankweiler , Gleisweiler , Burrweiler and Hainfeld (Pfalz) then follow the route . The next stops are Weyher in der Pfalz (only via Panorama Route ), Rhodt unter Rietburg , Edenkoben , Sankt Martin (Pfalz) (only via Panorama Route ), Maikammer , Diedesfeld , Hambach an der Weinstrasse and the core town of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , Haardt an the Weinstrasse , Gimmeldingen , Königsbach an der Weinstrasse (the last three places mentioned only via panorama route), Mußbach , Deidesheim , Forst an der Weinstrasse , Wachenheim an der Weinstrasse and Bad Dürkheim . The route forks here: the main route continues via Ungstein , Freinsheim , Dackenheim and Kirchheim an der Weinstrasse and is partly identical to the Kraut-und-Rüben-Radweg ; a parallel panorama route leads further west via Leistadt , Weisenheim am Berg , Bobenheim am Berg and Kleinkarlbach . After the main and panorama routes have come together again, Grünstadt and Asselheim follow the route . The last stage of the route from Asselheim to Bockenheim an der Weinstrasse is shared by the Deutsche Weinstrasse cycle path with the cabbage and beet cycle path and the Barbarossa cycle path .
