In the extreme north of the district on the border with Kleinkarlbach, it runs again for a short time over the municipal territory. The Höninger Bach partially forms the boundary to Altleiningen. The exclave is bounded in the southwest by the Isenach .

history

The place belonged to the lordship of Hardenburg and has a common history with them. In 1214 the Höningen monastery owned goods in Bobenheim, in a document from 1245 Pope Innocent IV confirmed this ownership. The place belonged to the Counts of Leiningen , most recently on the Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hardenburg line .

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the region and annexed it after the Peace of Campo Formio (1797) . From 1798 to 1814 the village belonged to the French department of Donnersberg and was assigned to the canton of Grünstadt . Due to the agreements reached at the Congress of Vienna (1815) and an exchange contract with Austria , the region became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 . Under the Bavarian administration, the cantons were usually retained, the municipality of Bobenheim am Berg was the only one to be separated from the canton of Grünstadt and incorporated into the now Bavarian canton of Dürkheim . With this Bobenheim am Berg came to the Landkommissariat Neustadt in the Rhine district in 1818 . In 1862 the land commissioner's office was converted into a district office.

In 1902 the place changed to the district office of Dürkheim , before this was reintegrated into its Neustadt counterpart in 1931. From 1939 the place was part of the district of Neustadt . After the Second World War , the municipality within the French occupation zone became part of the administrative district of Palatinate in the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the place changed on June 7, 1969 to the newly created district of Bad Dürkheim . Three years later it was assigned to the also newly formed community of Freinsheim .

On July 12, 2019, a tornado , which the German Meteorological Service then classified in the F1 category with wind speeds between 117 and 180 km / h, caused considerable damage in the community and on the associated agricultural land. Eleven houses were severely damaged, at least one had become uninhabitable. On several dozen hectares of vineyards , vines were broken off or uprooted from the ground and fastening posts were broken. The property damage was in the six-digit range.
