Private local radio in North Rhine-Westphalia began broadcasting Radio DU (today: Radio Duisburg ) on April 1, 1990. Currently, all stations are working with Radio NRW as a provider of supporting programs.

In the district of Olpe there is no local radio before. Currently, in some parts of the district, the neighboring Siegen radio can be received from the Siegen-Giersberg and Bad Berleburg-Aue stations .
