List of radio stations

Radyo Metropol FM is the first Turkish-speaking radio station in Germany. The station was founded in 1999 under the name “Bizim Dalga” ( “Our Wave” ) in Berlin , where it is based.

Radyo Metropol FM is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Medien-Union from Ludwigshafen and employs 25 people. The target group are the so-called " German Turks " aged between 18 and 49 years. Various Turkish music styles , entertainment and services such as traffic and weather as well as local, national and international news are broadcast. The station has a market share of 70.1 percent in its target group.

The managing director is Tamer Ergün Yikici, who has significantly supported the establishment of Metropol FM and is continuing the further expansion of the station. Together with Holger Willoh, who has supported the station as commercial director of Moira Rundfunk GmbH since it was founded, he heads the management.

The radio station, which now reaches over half a million people in Europe, is increasingly trying to reach religious German-Turkish listeners in addition to its previous clientele. This can be seen above all in the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan , as a fasting prayer is said on the radio program every day at nightfall.

Metropol FM can be received via VHF , live streaming via Internet and DVB-C from Unitymedia and Kabel Deutschland.

Reception via VHF in the following cities: Berlin (since 1999), Stuttgart (2004), Ludwigshafen / Mannheim , Mainz / Wiesbaden , Koblenz (2001/06), Bremen (2016) and Frankfurt , Friedberg and Darmstadt (2019).

The allocation of eleven VHF frequencies in North Rhine-Westphalia (Dorsten, Essen, Bochum, Hagen, Cologne, Krefeld, Mülheim, Attendorn, Lennestadt, Olpe, Herdecke) to Metropol FM by the LfM was canceled with the judgment of the Düsseldorf Administrative Court on July 19, 2016 a procedural error repealed.

news

The station brings local news from the FM broadcasting range as well as from Germany and international events. Events in Turkey are usually only reported very briefly.
