The 45-meter-high OfficeTower, popularly known as the “Menglerbau”, at Rheinstrasse 40-42 in downtown Darmstadt consists of a 12-story main building, a three-story auxiliary building, the west wing and a two-story south wing. The upper floors of the main and ancillary buildings function exclusively as office space.
The building was designed by the Swiss architect Max Dudler .
The building was erected in 1966. In the 1970s and 1980s, the school department of the Darmstadt Regional Council was housed in the main building of the Menglerbau . The building had been vacant since 1998 and was sold to Newcom Real Estate Network by the previous owner, Allianz Immobilien. The new owner had the building renovated between 2002 and 2003.
The VHF transmitters Antenne Frankfurt 95.1 (100.8 MHz, 500 watts), Radio Darmstadt (103.4 MHz, 320 watts) and Radio Bob (92.4 MHz, 200 watts) are broadcast from the office tower .
