Klaus-Jürgen Tillmann

Klaus-Jürgen Tillmann (born September 17, 1944 in Bochum ) is a German educational scientist. He worked as a professor for school education at Bielefeld University . There he was also (from 1994 to 2008) scientific director of the " Laborschule Bielefeld ", a reform school that was founded in 1974 by Hartmut von Hentig . He has been retired since 2009.

From 1966 to 1969, Tillmann completed a teaching degree at the University of Education in Dortmund and then worked as a secondary school teacher in Bochum. In 1974 he did his doctorate at the University of Education in Dortmund with a thesis on school socialization. Before he came to Bielefeld in 1992, he worked as a research assistant at the " Institute for School Development Research " at the PH Dortmund (1972–1979) and as a professor at the University of Hamburg (1979–1991). In 1991/92 he set up the "Pädagogische Landesinstitut Brandenburg" (Ludwigsfelde) as founding director.

In addition to his teaching and research activities, he was / is active in various scientific committees - for example in the scientific advisory board of the DJI ( German Youth Institute ). He was also chairman of the scientific advisory board of the research association "Studies on the Development of All-Day Schools" (StEG). From 1999 to 2003 he was chairman of the "Pedagogical Committee" in the DFG ( German Research Foundation ). He has political advisory projects a. a. carried out in Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia.

The focus of his work is: school theory , school development in the secondary level, school socialization, empirical educational research . He is one of the authors of the German PISA 2000 study.

Tillmann lives in Berlin. He has been married to the pedagogy professor Marianne Horstkemper ( formerly: University of Potsdam ) since 1983 .
