August-Klotz-Strasse (Düren)
The August-Klotz-Straße in the district town Düren ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ) is an ancient city road .

The road has four lanes and begins at the Platz der Deutschen Einheit (so called intersection since November 15, 2011) and ends at Aachener Straße (Düren) .

Towards the end of the 18th century, the earlier city moats were dried out and the ramparts leveled. So-called “promenades” were laid out in these areas. In the area of today's street, the "Lindenpromenade" was built around 1780. The pond still visible at the Pleussmühle was moved under the street in 1902.
In memory of August Klotz, the fifth honorary citizen of the city, the Lindenpromenade was renamed August-Klotz-Straße on September 22, 1932. Klotz (1857–1925) was mayor or lord mayor of the city from 1894 to 1921.
The southern part of today's August-Klotz-Strasse between the confluence with Weierstrasse and the intersection with Aachener Strasse used to have a slightly different route and was later straightened. In the city map from around 1903, the linden promenade ended at the Pleußmühle, the road up to the confluence with Holzstraße belonged to Weierstraße , and Aachener Straße began at the confluence of Holzstraße . From 1908 to around 1957 the tram of the Dürener Kreisbahn (DKB) drove here . The single-track route led from Markt to Rölsdorf and on to Lendersdorf or Gürzenich, there was a stop on Holzstrasse. This was called Holzstraße - Aachender Straße .
