Nicholas Manza Kamakya (* 1985 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

After he had achieved top placements in smaller races, especially in the United States and France , in previous years, he made his first appearance in major competitions in 2009. In March he finished second in the Prague half marathon with a personal best of 1:00:09 h and won the Göteborgsvarvet in May .

In October 2009, he caused a surprise at the Beijing Marathon . Originally only engaged as a pacemaker , he ran through the race and finished second in 2:08:42 hours. A few weeks later he was with Chiba-Ekiden member of the Kenyan squadron, which took third place. At the beginning of December he won the Montferland Run and missed Haile Gebrselassie's course record by just two seconds.

In 2010, Kamakya finished second in the Yangzhou Jianzhen half marathon in 1:02:18 h and sixth in the Rome marathon in 2:12:19 h. At the Gold Coast Marathon in 2011, he set a course record with a winning time of 2:10:01 h. In the same year he finished fourth in the Amsterdam Marathon with a personal best of 2:06:33 hours.
