Mustafa Mohamed (born March 1, 1979 in Mogadishu ) is a Swedish obstacle and long-distance runner of Somali origin.

Mustafa Mohamed emigrated to Sweden from his homeland Somalia when he was eleven.

Mohamed celebrated his first international success at the Junior World Championships in 1998. Here he finished eighth over 3000 meters obstacle course.

In 2002 he won the Göteborgsvarvet . The following year came at the Half Marathon World Championships in Vilamoura on 30th place. In 2004 he won the Göteborgsvarvet again and qualified in the obstacle course for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where he finished 13th with a personal best of 8: 18.05 min. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he was tenth in the same discipline.

In 2006 he ran over 3000 m obstacle 8: 14.67 min at DN Galan in Stockholm. A month later he was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg with a time of 8: 27.79 min and thus missed the bronze medal by six tenths of a second. He also won bronze at the European Cross Country Championships in San Giorgio su Legnano , and at the 2007 World Cross Country Championships in Mombasa he came in 28th place.

In the same year he improved the 31 year old Swedish national record of Anders Gärderud over 3000 m obstacle on July 28th to 8: 05.75 min, finished fourth at the World Championships in Osaka and won silver at the European Cross Country Championships in Toro .

In 2008 he was third at the Great Manchester Run and over 3000 m obstacle tenth at the Olympic Games in Beijing and won bronze at the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels .

At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, he came 14th over 3000 m obstacle, and at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona he was eliminated in the preliminary run.

Mustafa Mohamed lives in Lysekil and starts for the Hälle IF association.
