Alfred Kirwa Yego
Alfred Kirwa Yego (born November 28, 1986 ) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who mainly starts on the 800-meter course .
The Kenyan champion and vice junior world champion from 2004 failed in the semifinals of the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki , but won bronze at the African Championships the following year.
At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , he achieved the greatest success of his career so far by winning the gold medal. On the home stretch he had a tough final sprint with his competitor Gary Reed (CAN), who had led the field for a long time. With a time of 1: 47.09 min, he crossed the finish line with a hundredth of a second ahead of the Canadian. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he won the bronze medal over 800 meters.
