White Blood Cells is the third album by the American rock band The White Stripes . It was released in 2001.

The album was the commercial breakthrough for the White Stripes. White Blood Cells reached number 61 on the Billboard 200 and achieved gold status. Stylus Magazine placed it at number 15 on their best albums 2000-2005.

The album is dedicated to Loretta Lynn , a "good friend" of the White Stripes. Jack White produced Loretta Lynn's comeback album ( Van Lear Rose ) in 2004 .

Redd Kross bassist , Steven Shane McDonald, published a project that can only be accessed online: He added a bass track to the 16 (actually bassless) songs. The White Stripes agreed with Steven to take the files off the site after 60,000 downloads.
