Pierre-Ambroise Bosse (born May 11, 1992 in Nantes ) is a French athlete who specializes in the 800-meter run .

Athletic career

Bosse was French junior champion over 800 meters in 2010 and finished eighth at the Junior World Championships in Moncton . He won the gold medal at the 2011 European Junior Championships in Tallinn and was second in the French Championships that same year.

In 2012, Bosse won the national championships and celebrated his most important international success to date with winning the bronze medal at the European Championships in Helsinki . At the Olympic Games in London , he missed the finals. The following year he lived up to his role as a favorite at the U23 European Championships and won the gold medal. Shortly afterwards, he increased his personal best in the 800-meter run to 1: 43.76 minutes, which made him move up to second place in the all-time French best list behind the two-time European champion Mehdi Baala . At the World Championships in Moscow , he finished seventh.

On July 18, 2014, Bosse set a new French record in the 800-meter run at the Herculis in Monaco with 1: 42.53 min. At the European Championships in Zurich , however, he could not live up to his role as a favorite. In the final, his attempt to blast the field with a high initial pace failed and eventually fell back to eighth and last place.

Bosse celebrated his greatest career success to date at the Open Air World Championships in London on August 8, 2017. Over the 800 meters he secured the gold medal after 1: 44.67 minutes ahead of Poland's Adam Kszczot . After he was beaten up by three people in his vacation home in Gujan-Mestras at the end of August 2017 , he ended his season.

At the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 , Bosse won the bronze medal over 800 meters behind Adam Kszczot and the Swede Andreas Kramer .
