Simona Staicu (born May 5, 1971 ) is a long-distance runner who started for her home country Romania until 2000 and has competed for Hungary since then .

She had her first major successes in half marathons : in 1994 and 1995 she won the South Tyrolean Spring Half Marathon , 1995 and 2006 at the City Pier City Loop and in 1994, 1996 and 1997 at the Altöttinger Half Marathon . She is the record winner of the half marathon competition of the Wachau Marathon (1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004).

In 2002 she set her personal best in the marathon with 2:29:59 as third in the Milan Marathon . In 2003 she won the Two Oceans Marathon over 56 km in South Africa . In 2004 she won the Budapest Marathon as the Hungarian marathon champion; In addition, she won numerous national championship titles in the 5000 and 10,000 meter run , in cross-country running and in the half marathon. She represented her country at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis, where she finished 32nd in the marathon, and at the 2004 Olympic marathon in Athens, where she finished 45th.

In 2006 she won the Jungfrau Marathon and won the Wolfgangsee run for the third time after 2001 and 2004. In 2010 she won the Liechtenstein Marathon .
