Jochen Schirmer

Jochen Schirmer (born August 5, 1951 ) is a former German long-distance runner .

In 1973 he was fourth in the German Marathon Championship . In the following year, after finishing third in the Dülmen marathon in 2:19:33 h, he was nominated for the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Rome , but had to forego the start at short notice due to an infection with a high fever. In 1975 he was German runner-up in the marathon, in 1976 sixth in the Karl Marx Stadt Marathon and third in the German Marathon Championship.

In 1977 he came in 75th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Düsseldorf . A week later he won the CPC Loop The Hague in 1:02:40 h; However, the route advertised as a half marathon turned out to be 500 meters too short. At the premiere of the German championship in the 25 km road race , which was held as part of the Paderborn Easter run , he came third.

After a third place in the marathon of Châteaudun 1978 in 2:19:50 h, he was sent to the European Championships in Prague , but did not reach the goal. Later in the season he won the Route du Vin .
