Cristina Pomacu

Cristina Pomacu (born September 15, 1973 in Calafat ) is a former Romanian long-distance runner .

Life

She was particularly successful at half marathon world championships . At the 1995 World Half Marathon Championships , she won the silver medal behind Valentina Yegorova . In 1997 in Košice , she finished second again in a personal best behind Tegla Loroupe . In both cases she won the team championship with Romania. In 1998 in Uster , she was second with the team and finished eighth in the individual ranking. At the Half Marathon World Championships in 2000 she finished seventh and celebrated her third victory in the team classification.

At the full distance she could not achieve any comparable success at international championships. At the European Athletics Championships in 1994 she finished only 24th place, at the 1996 Olympic Games and at the 2001 World Athletics Championships , she gave up the race prematurely. However, she achieved a total of three victories at the Belgrade Marathon (1994, 2000, 2001) and one victory at the Marrakech Marathon (1995).

Cristina Pomacu was Romanian champion twice in the marathon (1993, 1994) and in the half marathon (1995, 1997). She is 1.64 m tall and weighed 46 kg at competition times.
