Serenus
Serenus ("cheerful, clear, calm"; related to the Greek ξηρός "dry") is an ancient Roman epithet that was later used as a Christian baptismal and first name. The male name form is Serenus (Italian and Spanish Sereno , Franco-Provençal Serain , French Serein ), the female name form Serena (in Vulgar Latin influenced by Sirena > Serena , old French Seraine , French Sereine , Rhaeto-Romanic Seraina ).

- Numerius Vibius Serenus , Roman proconsul of Hispania ulterior at the time of Tiberius , exiled to the island of Amorgos for moral offenses ( ob atrocitatem morum ) in 23 AD, accused in 24 AD by his son of the same name of subversive activities and a plot against Tiberius
