Tirfi Tsegaye

Tirfi Tsegaye (born November 25, 1984 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

Career

In 2008 she won the Porto Marathon in 2:35:31 h.

The following year she was second in the Turin Marathon , sixth in the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham and second in the Shanghai Marathon .

In 2010 she was second in the Paris Half Marathon , third in the Paris Marathon and second in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and in the Shanghai Marathon , in 2011 eleventh in the Boston Marathon and again second in Shanghai.

In 2012, a third place at Roma - Ostia was followed by a course record at the Paris Marathon.

In 2013 she won the Dubai Marathon after 2:23:23 hours and finished fifth in the Boston Marathon 2013 with a time of 2:28:09 hours.

On February 23, 2014, she won the Tokyo Marathon in 2:22:23 hours and on September 28, 2014, the Berlin Marathon in 2:20:18 hours. At the London Marathon 2015 she finished third in 2:23:41 h and at the World Championships in Beijing that same year she was eighth in 2:30:54 h.

In January 2016, she repeated her victory in the Dubai Marathon after 2:19:41 h. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro she was fourth in 2:24:47 h.
