The 2013 Boston Marathon was the 117th edition of the annual running event in Boston , United States . The marathon took place on April 15, 2013 and was the second World Marathon Majors of the year.
Lelisa Desisa won the men in 2:10:22 h and Rita Jeptoo Sitienei won the women in 2:26:25 h.
The marathon was overshadowed by an attack in which three people died and 264 were injured.
