Sharon Jemutai Cherop (born March 16, 1984 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .

The third of the 2000 5000m World Junior Athletics Championships won the 2007 News and Sentinel Half Marathon and came fourth in the Philadelphia Half Marathon , before finishing third in the Twin Cities Marathon on her 42.195km debut . In 2008 she was fourth in the Nashville Marathon and third in the Nairobi Marathon in 2009 .

In 2010 she won the Hamburg Marathon , improved her personal record by more than five minutes and ran out over a minute. Another leap in performance came at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon , where she ran the fastest time ever for a woman on Canadian soil with 2:22:43 h. The following year she was third in the Boston Marathon , won bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu and was second in the Delhi Half Marathon .

In 2012 she finished seventh in the Dubai Marathon and won the Boston Marathon . In 2013 she was third in the Boston Marathon and second in the Berlin Marathon .

Her husband Matthew Kibowen Kosgei is also successful as a marathon runner.
