Micah Kipkemboi Kogo or Micah Kemboi Kogo (born June 3, 1986 in Burnt Forest , Uasin Gishu District , Rift Valley Province ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

He started running at Kewet Primary School , inspired by middle-distance runner David Kibet , whom he had seen training in his village. After graduating from AIC Thulwet Secondary School , he joined Sammy Rono's training camp. Since 2005 he has appeared internationally. In 2005 and 2006 he won the Course de l'Escalade . In 2006 he set a world best for the year over 10,000 meters with 26: 35.63 minutes at the Memorial Van Damme . In the same year he won the Zevenheuvelenloop over 15 km.

In 2007 he won the Parelloop in 27:07 minutes, only five seconds slower than the world record in the 10 km road run by Haile Gebrselassie . He then won the Great Manchester Run and the Falmouth Road Race and was second in the world athletics finals over 5000 meters . The following year he won the London 10,000 premiere and qualified for the 10,000 meter run at the Beijing Olympics . There he won the bronze medal in a time of 27: 04.11 minutes. At the end of the season he won the Trier New Year's Eve run .

In March 2009 he set a world record in the 10 km road race at the Parelloop with a time of 27:01 minutes . At the World Championships in Berlin , he was seventh over 10,000 meters.

In 2010 he finished second in the Parelloop. At the Grand 10 Berlin he competed against the new 10 km world record holder Leonard Patrick Komon , but he was beaten by him by a minute and only came in fourth place.

Micah Kipkemboi Kogo is 1.70 m tall and weighs 56 kg. He is trained by Sammy Rono and supervised by the manager Ricky Simms (PACE Sports Management).
