Uasin Gishu County (until 2010 Uasin Gishu District ) is a county in Kenya . The capital of the county is Eldoret . In 2019, 1,163,186 people lived in the county on 2955.3 km². The county is between 1,500 and 2,700 m above sea level. The people live mainly from cattle breeding (dairy and slaughter cattle) and arable farming. Mainly corn, wheat and potatoes are grown, but also soybeans , millet , finger millet and cassava .

The county is divided into councils and divisions. There are three constituencies, Eldoret East, Eldoret North and Eldoret South.
