Bill Schermbrucker

William Gerald "Bill" Schermbrucker (* 1938 in Eldoret , Kenya ) is a Kenyan Canadian writer , university lecturer, radio writer and literary critic.

Life

Schermbrucker was born in Eldoret, Kenya, in 1938. Since 1964 he has lived in Vancouver , Canada . He studied English at the University of British Columbia and received his Ph.D. with a comparative literary work on the narrative techniques of six selected novels by DH Lawrence , William Faulkner and Patrick White .

Schermbrucker is one of the founders and long-time professors of Capilano College and the past editor of The Capilano Review . Later he worked as a literary critic.

At Capilano College, he oversaw the creative writing courses for both professional writers and amateurs for many years , with a particular emphasis on the genre of memoirs , which is not just about the process of writing, but also about marketing or the Realization as a book or as an article in a magazine.

Writing is now his main occupation. He is currently working on a follow-up novel to his Mimosa . In addition to his novels, Bill Schermbrucker has published various non-fiction books on Canadian literature or the technique of writing under his full birth name .

1989 he won the BC Book Prizes belonging Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize with his novel Mimosa (1988).
