Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize is a Canadian literary award that was introduced in 1985 as one of the BC Book Prizes . It is awarded annually to the best fictional literary work by a British Columbia resident. The authors must have lived in British Columbia for three of the last five years.

The name of the award comes from the writer Ethel Wilson , who was born in South Africa but lives in Canada , author of The Innocent Traveler (1949) and Swamp Angel (1954), whose work had a special reference to the landscape of British Columbia and its people.

The 2011 winner was announced by hosts Bob Robertson and Linda Cullen at the Kay Meek Center, Vancouver , on April 21, 2011 at the Lieutenant Governor's BC Book Prize Gala. The shortlist for each year will be announced in March.
