Shortlist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shortlist ( english shortlist or shortlist , from short = short and list = list) refers to a list of shortlisted as a competition , which by shortening a Long List (eng. Longlist from long lang = and list = list) was created. The Duden defines longlist as the "first, larger selection list [for a competition] from which a shortlist is then made".

The shortlist is an interim result of a selection process and describes the shortlist of candidates for a job, an award, an academic appointment, or the like, which was determined from an initial pre-selection or a longer list of all applicants or candidates. These terms are now also used in German as Anglicisms , are listed in the Duden and are used, for example, in the selection process for the German Book Prize .
