Caroline Adderson

Caroline Adderson (born September 9, 1963 in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada ) is a Canadian writer who has written novels and short stories and has won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize twice .

Life

Caroline Adderson was born on September 9, 1963 in Edmonton, Alberta. She studied at the University of British Columbia , where she graduated with a degree in education .

Her first collection of short stories, Bad imaginings (1993), was among the shortlist of the Governor General's Award for Fiction and won in 1994 the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize . Her second novel, Sitting Practice , also won the 2004 BC Book Prizes award . Only Audrey Thomas has won the award three times so far. In addition, Adderson has already won the CBC Literary Competition three times. In 2006 she was honored with the Marian Engel Award , which is given annually to an author in the middle of her career to honor her entire work.

The National Post's two literary critics , Alex Good and Steven W. Beattie, named Caroline Adderson one of the ten most underrated writers in Canada in 2010, particularly emphasizing the language of their novels, which would be close to poetry.

In 2011 she represented the jury for the renowned Canadian literary magazine The Malahat Review and its Jack Hodgins Founders' Award for Fiction and gave the laudatory speech for winner Kris Bertin and his short story Girl On the Fire Escape .
