Sheila A. Egoff Children's Literature Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sheila A. Egoff Children's Literature Prize is an annual Canadian literary prize , part of the BC Book Prizes , for the best children's or youth novel published by a resident of British Columbia or the Yukon . The award has been awarded since 1987 and is supported by the BC Library Association.

Originally, the prize was also awarded for illustrated and non-illustrated children's books . However, since 2003 this section has been covered by the Christie Harris Illustrated Children's Literature Prize , which is also part of the BC Book Prices .

Like all seven other BC Book Prizes literary prizes, the award will be presented at the Lieutenant Governor's BC Book Prizes Gala this spring. The selection criteria stipulate that the authors must have lived in British Columbia or the territory of the Yukon for three of the last five years, while the work could also appear in other regions or countries. The award was named after the youth book librarian and collector Sheila Egoff .
