Meg Tilly (born February 14, 1960 , Long Beach , California , USA ; actually Margaret E. Chan ) is an American actress, dancer and author. She is the sister of actress Jennifer Tilly .

Life

Meg Tilly was born in Long Beach (California, USA) in 1960 as the daughter of an American of Chinese origin, but grew up in British Columbia ( Canada ). She learned dance at the Connecticut Ballet Company and the Throne Dance Theater .

In 1980 she had her breakthrough with Alan Parker 's Fame - The Road to Fame . After an injury, she had to give up dancing and from now on concentrated only on acting. Initially she was in series and films and such as Hill Street Police Station , Psycho II and The Great Frustration . In 1985 she got a role in Agnes - Angels in Fire alongside Jane Fonda and Anne Bancroft , for which she was awarded the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar . Other films in which Tilly played were Valmont with Colin Firth , The Secret of the Swing , Masquerade - A Deadly Game with Kim Cattrall and Rob Lowe , Auf und Davon and Sleep with me . She also wrote a novel called Singing Songs . In 1995 she appeared for the last time on television alongside Eliza Dushku in Journey . Her second novel Gemma was published in October 2006 . In 2007 she published the children's book Porcupine . Tilly's next role did not follow until 2010. She was seen in three episodes of the television series Caprica , the prequel of the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica .

Private life

Tilly was married to the film producer Tim Zinnemann until 1989, with whom she has two children. Her son William Joseph Firth (* 1990), who is also an actor, comes from a relationship with the actor Colin Firth . From 1995 to 2002 she was married to former Sony Pictures President John Calley . In 2002 she married her third and current husband, the author of youth literature Don Calame. They met during a writing class in Big Sur , California . The couple currently live in Toronto.

Others

In 1984 Tilly was slated for the role of Constanze Mozart in Miloš Forman's eight-time Oscar-winning film Amadeus . But one day before she started shooting, she was so badly injured playing soccer that she tore her leg, which ruined her involvement in the film. She was replaced by Elizabeth Berridge shortly afterwards .
