Markus Hammer (born June 1, 1977 in Würzburg ) is a German actor and musician.

Life

At the age of 15, Hammer founded his first band, Mr. Crossfire , which was later renamed MCF (Motion Control Foundation) . Hammer worked as a singer and text writer in the formation until 2005. In 1998 MCF were featured on the newcomer sampler of the music magazine Visions with the song For You and were allowed to appear at the Bizarre Festival in the course of this . In 2004, MCF starred in the teen comedy Better Than School on the big screen. In 2005 the band received the youth culture award of the city of Würzburg.

Hammer appeared with MCF in the opening act for HIM and toured regularly with the band Bananafishbones , who were under contract with the same management. Shortly before the breakup, MCF played at the 100th anniversary of the TsinTao brewery in China. With MCF, Hammer released two studio albums ( Candy Floss & Spice and And Now the Good News ) and the single Let Me Know .

At the age of 20 Hammer played at the Theater am Neunerplatz in Würzburg in the plays Carmen Rosa and Schiller Thurgau . In 2007 Hammer joined the heavy rock formation The New Black as a singer, in which he is still active today. In a very short time the band got a record deal with AFM Records in Hamburg and played in the opening act for AC / DC , Alter Bridge, Black Label Society and Dragonforce. Hammer also played with The New Black at festivals such as Rock am Ring , Rock im Park and Wacken Open Air . The New Black has produced four studio albums to date: The New Black , II: Better in Black , III: Cut Loose and A Monster's Life .

In 2008, Hammer starred alongside Frank-Markus Barwasser in the TV film Unterwegs nach elsewhere . In 2009 the film was nominated for the Grimme Prize.

Director Thomas Heinemann, who had already used Markus Hammer in 1998 for plays in the Theater am Neunerplatz, hired Hammer in 2014 for the children's film Lola on the Pea as Lola's father.

In the same year he played one of the two main roles in the TV series Positive Sinking. The show was first published as a web series and then broadcast on Bavarian radio.

In 2015, Hammer played a rock star for the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson in a Dolormin commercial.

In 2018, the film Perfect Silence celebrated its world premiere at the Würzburg Film Festival, in which Markus Hammer plays the leading role alongside his long-time friend Martin Maria Eschenbach .

Markus Hammer has been represented by the Hübchen acting agency in Berlin since 2014.
