Florida Grupo

The Grupo Florida (Spanish: Florida Group) was a literary association in Buenos Aires , Argentina .

In the 1920s, avant-garde writers united under the credo " L'art pour l'art ". They derived their name from one of the most modern streets in Buenos Aires, Calle Florida . The mouthpiece of their association and the platform for their first publications were the magazines Proa and Martín Fierro . Due to the latter, they were initially sometimes called Grupo Martín Fierro ( Martínfierristas ). This name refers to the Argentine national epic El gaucho Martín Fierro by José Hernández .
