Simon Biwott

Simon Biwott (born March 3, 1970 in Eldoret ) is a former Kenyan marathon runner .

In 2000 he won the Berlin Marathon and the Milan Marathon . In 2001 he first won the Paris Marathon and then finished second behind Gezahegne Abera (ETH) at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton , just one second behind .

The following year he won the Rotterdam Marathon and came second in the Berlin Marathon in his personal best of 2:06:49.

A persistent injury ended that track record, forcing him to retire from the sport in late 2004. He is now devoting himself to a school he founded in his hometown.
