The Porto Marathon ( Portuguese Maratona do Porto ) is a marathon that has been taking place in Porto ( Portugal ) since 2004, every October or November . It is organized by the Runporto.com agency and the Clube de Veteranos do Porto . The event also includes a family race over 15 km and a fun race over 6 km.

route

The start is at the western end of the Parque da Cidade city ​​park . At the Castelo do Queijo , turn into Avenida da Boavista . Follow this, after a northerly swerve past the Bessa Stadium , west to Matosinhos . There you turn south and follow the coast of the Atlantic Ocean to the mouth of the Douro . Walk on the right bank to the old town center of Ribeira . There you cross the Douro via the Ponte Dom Luís I to Vila Nova de Gaia and complete a turning point stretch downstream to the Vila Nova district. Returning to Porto over the Dom Luís Bridge, take another commute that goes upriver under the Ponte Maria Pia to the turning point at the Autoestrada A20 , which is reached after 30 km. The last part of the route then leads downriver to the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean, then northwards past the Castelo do Queijo to the destination at the city park.
