Mamitu Daska (born October 16, 1983 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

Career

In 2008 she won the Route du Vin . In 2009 she came in twelfth place at the Cross Country World Championships in Amman and won silver with the Ethiopian team. She then finished second in Freihofer's Run for Women , won the Bolder Boulder and Falmouth Road races, and was second in the New York City Half Marathon in August , only beaten by Paula Radcliffe .

She made her debut in the 42.195 km distance a month later in the Berlin Marathon , in which she was third, and at the end of the season she was fourth in the Delhi Half Marathon and won the Obudu Mountain Run .

In 2010 she won the Dubai Marathon . At the Cross Country World Championships in Bydgoszcz she was eighth and won silver with the Ethiopian team. A title defense at Bolder Boulder was followed by a sixth place in the Chicago Marathon .

In 2011 she won the Houston Marathon and the Freihofer's Run for Women , won the silver medal in the half marathon of the Pan-African Games in Mabuto and set a course record in the Frankfurt Marathon . In 2012 she finished ninth in the Dubai Marathon and defended her title in Freihofer's Run for Women.

In 2013 she finished twelfth in the Boston Marathon and won the New York Mini 10K .

At the RAK half marathon 2015 in Ra's al-Khaimah she came second.

In October 2016 she won the Frankfurt Marathon for the second time after 2011 .

She finished third in the 47th New York City Marathon in November 2017.

Mamitu Daska is 1.65 m tall and married. She has been looked after by Elite Sports Management International since 2006 .
