New York City Marathon 2017

The 47th edition of the New York City Marathon (officially: TCS New York City Marathon 2017 ) took place on November 5, 2017 in New York City , United States . It was the fifth run of the World Marathon Majors 2017/18 and had the gold label of the IAAF Road Race Label Events 2017 .

In the men’s race, Geoffrey Kamworor from Kenya won , and in the women’s race, Shalane Flanagan was the first time in forty years that an American woman won. Around 2.5 million viewers followed the event. After there had been an attack in the city that left eight dead just a few days earlier , security measures had been tightened in advance.
