Sara Dossena (born November 21, 1984 in Clusone ) is an Italian duathlete , triathlete and long-distance runner . She is multiple national champion and vice-European champion (2015: duathlon and triathlon).

Career

Sara Dossena was active in athletics in her youth. In 2002 and again in 2003 she was the Italian junior national champion in mountain running .

In 2005 she became the U23 state champion over 10,000 m in Rome . The following year she was twelfth in the U23 race of the 2006 European Cross Country Championships in San Giorgio su Legnano and won bronze with the Italian team.

In 2011 she came to the triathlon, and Sara Dossena has been a professional athlete since 2015.

Duathlon and Triathlon

In April 2015 Sara Dossena became vice European champion in the short and long distance duathlon. A month later in May, she was also runner-up in the European triathlon middle distance. In June she became Vice State Champion on the short distance triathlon.

In September 2016, she came fourth at the European Championships on the half-distance triathlon at Walchsee, Austria. In the middle distance she won the Challenge Sardinia in October .

athletics

In May 2017 Sara Dossena became national champion over 10,000 m and second in the half marathon in Lugano.
In her first marathon start, the then 32-year-old finished sixth in the New York City Marathon in November 2017 .

She started the marathon at the 2019 World Athletics Championships , but had to finish the race in Doha after only twelve kilometers due to the high heat load. In November she won the Milan half marathon.
