The Challenge Rimini is a former triathlon event over the middle distance. It has taken place annually since 2013 in the Italian city ​​of Rimini on the Adriatic coast and was part of the Challenge Triathlon World Series .

history

The Challenge Rimini first took place in 2013 and was the first Challenge race in Italy. In the first edition, the Hungarian Erika Csomor and the Australian Chris McCormack won .

In 2015, the European Triathlon Union (ETU) held the European Championships on the middle distance here. The last race was here on May 7, 2017.

After five events, the Challenge Rimini 2018 was replaced by the Challenge Riccione . Here again the Italian Giulio Molinari won the first edition.

Route

Rimini beach
  • The swimming distance of 1.9 km was in the Mediterranean. The start and changing area were on the beach in Rimini, not far from the port.
  • The 90 km bike route initially led south from Rimini. Via Coriano and San Saviano , the route continued along the Conca River and upstream through the towns of Santa Maria del Piano and Mercatino Conca . There the athletes briefly left the main road and drove on via Monte Grimano . The turning point of the route was finally in Monte Cerignone . From there the bike route ran back through the Concatal to Coriano . Finally, it led north of Riccione back to the beach and from there along the Adriatic back to Rimini.
  • The running route over the half marathon distance had to be completed on the beach promenade in Rimini. It was a turning point route that had to be completed three times. It led from the transition area at Parco Fellini south to Viale Rimembranze . The destination was in Parco Fellini .
